Steven Abernethy - President & CEO, Co-founder
Steve has been invited to speak on SquareTrade's experience by organizations including: the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Commerce, the European Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the American Bar Association, PC Forum, the Global Business Dialogue on E-commerce, and National Public Radio. As SquareTrade's CEO, Steve was selected as one of the World Economic Forum's 100 Technology Pioneers. Steve was also awarded the prestigious Outstanding Practical Achievement Award by the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution for SquareTrade's efforts.
Prior to co-founding SquareTrade, Steve was a management consultant at McKinsey, working with Fortune 100 financial institutions and media companies. Prior to his work at McKinsey, Steve managed the design and construction of several prominent buildings in Europe, the U.S. and Asia for Arup, a prestigious European architectural engineering firm. Steve earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and holds a BS in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic University.
Ahmed Khaishgi - Chief Operating Officer, Co-founder
Prior to co-founding SquareTrade, Ahmed was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company in New York, where he led the team that created the company's internal e-commerce implementation capabilities. Ahmed graduated from Harvard Business School as a Baker Scholar (top 5%), and has an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering. Before business school, he was a systems analyst at Procter & Gamble where he implemented a large ERP system.
When you have a claim on an item, this is what happens to it:
You send it in (most items). We'll give you a pre-paid shipping label. Print it out, box up your item and mail it to our repair depot. Laptops, TVs - pls. read the Special Treatment Box on the right side.
We take a look and decide how to process your claim.
- Reimburse: For most items below £300, or it's going to take too long or is too expensive to fix, we'll pay you the replacement price of your item. We give you a free shipping label to make it easy to send in your item.
- Repair: Otherwise, our experts will fix your item and we'll mail your item back to you at no cost.
- No cheap refurbs: We will not replace your item with a refurbished model. With a reimbursement from SquareTrade, you can go out and get a newer model for the same price you paid originally
Transfer or cancel at any time. No excuses necessary. If you don't need your warranty any more, feel free to cancel or transfer at any time. If you cancel, we'll even give you your money back, pro-rated for the time you haven't used.
Cut the Paperwork. At claim time, all we need is a copy of the item receipt - you can also send it to us at time of purchase of warranty, and we'll keep it on file for you. We have an easy process for you to email us your receipt.

You Know Us. We sold you the warranty and we'll service it. Our business is based around winning your repeat business. We're accountable to you.
Get Better Products. The last thing you want when your item breaks down is a cheap refurbished item that is 2 generations old. If your item breaks and we can't fix it, we'll reimburse your full item purchase price. That's money you can use towards the latest and greatest product.
