Cover Details

Length of cover: The SquareTrade iPad warranty covers your iPad for up to 2 or 3 years, starting on the date of iPad purchase.

Covered Issues: Both accidents (e.g., broken screen or other damage through drops AND liquid damage including full immersion) and out-of-warranty normal use failures (e.g., battery no longer charging or other hardware failures) are covered. We do not cover loss, theft, willful damage or damage occurring through gross misuse.

Excess: There is no excess for any claim.

How it works: You can file a claim online or on the phone or call us on 0808 189 1453. Depending on the issue, we will either fix your iPad or arrange for a replacement. To fix your iPad, we give you free express shipping to-and-from our depot. If you prefer the convenience of your local Genius Bar, you can take it there and we will reimburse your repair costs.

Repair or Replacement: Based on what happened to your iPad, we will let you know if it's suitable for repair, otherwise we will arrange a replacement option. For reimbursements, we will pay you the replacement cost of the iPad or the price you paid which is listed on your item receipt, whichever is less.

Older iPads: This cover is restricted to iPads purchased in the last 60 days, older iPads cannot be covered

“If you're going to be one of the iPad early adopters, you might want to make sure it's covered against manufacturing defects and accidental damage. While Apple offers a one-year limited warranty and two additional years of coverage with the AppleCare Protection Plan, it only makes you eligible for repair or replacement if your iPad suffers from a manufacturing defect.

A SquareTrade warranty, on the other hand, insures your iPad against not just manufacturing defects but accidental damage as well. Should anything untoward happen to your iPad, you'll be entitled to free repairs or a replacement from SquareTrade, depending upon the nature of the damage.

This option will come in handy should your iPad get lost or stolen, because SquareTrade does not cover that under the warranty. "My 19-month Dell laptop suddenly died. Upon calling, I was advised to either ship the unit to Square Trade or attempt to have it repaired locally and be reimbursed. I opted for the latter, and was advised by the technician that the cost would probably exceed the laptop's value. I e-mailed the report to Square Trade, and was instructed to forward the computer to them (at their expense ... they sent a shipping label). It would be acceptable to remove the hard drive, which I did. If they determined that repairs would be prohibitive, I'd be sent the $600 I paid for it. That's exactly what happened ... within a couple of days, I had my money through PayPal. It was that simple, and took just over a week ... amazing!

[And] just a couple of days ago, my iPhone's Bluetooth chip went bad, as determined by Apple support. Square Trade asked me if I'd prefer to send it to them or have Apple look at it. I chose to deal locally. The end result was an out-of-warranty exchange at the Apple Store, for which I paid $199. Upon sending the receipt to Square Trade, I received notification that I'd be creditied the full amount (less tax) through PayPal within a day or so. Again, they were right on the money (pun unintended). This morning, the funds were in my bank account.
